Systems both bolded and white are Points of Interest in the Galaxy, although your species may not know of them quite yet.
Travel between each full BLOCK, whether it is diagonal, up, down, left, or right on the map requires an hour of warp/hyperspace/lightspeed, etc.
Systems marked with an 'X' are HABITABLE. All UN-MARKED SYSTEMS have no inhabitable planets, but can be staffed with OUTPOSTS, which are unmarked on the map.
