With a light nod towards the assembled human council, Lady Ambassador Halla'Za would gently clasp her hands upon the table; interlocking them as she begins to speak gracefully, yet professionally.

"The Alliance has recently begun peaceful expansion into the known local sector of galactic space. Like any sentient species, while we can manage ourselves in an isolated manner; to do so would be detrimental to the galaxy as a whole. We desire to expand not only to new worlds, but to expand culturally and politically. As you have so welcomed us here today, and because of your friendliness and considerable bravery in trusting us to come here peacefully, the Alliance seeks to begin tying the first ropes of peace and tranquility with Mankind. While we do not expect you to agree to any sort of alliance or trade agreement as of yet, as we must consolidate our best and brightest together in order to find common grounds between our economies, we come here with a simple request.."

She turns to Buch Ca'Xon beside her; the senior aid who was carrying the large backpack from earlier. With a graceful nod in her direction, the diplomat slowly removes his backpack and, placing it on the ground beside his chair, begins sifting through it. While he does this, Lady Halla'Za turns back to the humans and begins to speak again.

"A treaty. Only a simple one for now; one to determine whether or not we would like to continue diplomatic relations. In summary, it will state that our governments are on friendly terms, and that we will either have small embassies on worlds later to be stated, or the Alliance will be granted an embassy in the Galactic Council, of which we have not yet met."

The Lady Ambassador finishes speaking for the moment. As she gazes over at her aid, who is gathering the holographic document from his backpack and placing the large tablet-like device on the table to be passed to the Marshall, the Lord General suddenly begins to speak. His gruff voice, louder and more intimidating coming from the speakers of his helmet, fills the sound-proof room.

"We also have an arising conflict in the, as you humans call it, the Teuffel Mining Field. Almost a Galactic Standard Day ago, an Alliance research and mineral collection facility was attacked and subsequently destroyed by USC forces. Three Alliance soldiers were captured, and multiple bodies were recovered from the site before self-detonation. While we only ask as a gesture, and do not expect you to assist because of the political issues that may arise from your brother Humans, we have multiple questions. These include the military capacities of your USC brethren, as well as what locations our own brethren may be held at. Any leads at all would go a long way."

The Lord General was being constantly updated about the situation at Teuffel via the Svu'Kavsi Intelligence Network. The network wad constantly recording information happening at the field and transmitting it to the Unity, which would then beam the information down in encrypted quantum packets for the Lord General to receive. These better prepared him for the negotiations at hand, and effectively would change the seriousness of these negotiations.

The enemy had Kal'Bavakorian bodies and soldiers in their hands. Even the low-tech Kas'Ka security armor had environmental protection systems that were most likely beyond human technologies. Hopefully they were damaged, and booby trapping is a regulation for captured technology, which eased the horrors of the captured Alliance armor. Unfortunately, that did not ease pains regarding the fact that three living Alliance soldiers, and many more dead, were in human custody. For an alien to capture an Alliance soldier, living or dead, and dissect them like corral eels, which was probably what the humans were doing, was like spitting into the face of her Imperial Empress herself.. A dire insult to an entire species.

The Alliance would find those soldiers and return them home, no matter the cost, and a mission like that started here.

"We've got a whole more more than leads, Ambassador." Aslambek began, he was a very small man compared to the other humans in the room but he spoke melodiously,

"Planetary coordinates, resource extraction zones, fleet positions, suspected fleet positions, technological analysis, military capabilities and readiness speculation, economic analysis, cultural and political analysis and compiled information, media sources, military overviews, historical references, tactical analysis and information, weapons capabilities, sensitive intelligence documentation, planetary defen-"

"He means to say our intelligence regarding your new-found enemy is quite exceptional, and we are indeed willing to share it, but not in the capacity you've described." Talbot's interruption was followed by a brief pause as he kept his momentum and barreled into an improvised speech.

"We understand your caution, after all we once held the same views in regards to the Galactic Community, but this is being increasingly exposed as an era where neutrality and caution simply means divide and conquer in the eyes of these hostile groups intoxicated by power and who's greedy expansion has claimed the lives of millions with seemingly nothing capable of ending their ceaseless slaughter and plunder.

Whilst there is indeed a hub for dialogue between nations it has no real power to put a stop to such acts of imperialism and is more often than not filled with empty words rather than powerful resolutions. The only way to disrupt the hegemony and exploitation of these 'Alpha Quadrant Powers' and to assert our continued independence is to band together as our own force so that we can negotiate on an equal level."

Talbot paused for a moment allowing the Kal'Bavakorians and even some of this own staff to interpret where the discussion was headed. Two of the civilian officials began hurriedly whispering to each other whilst the military men kept natural indicating they were no doubt already informed and had expected the upcoming proposal. The same couldn't be said for their non-uniformed counterparts.

"We propose a sort of 'Galactic Cooperative Prosperity Initiative' entailing the protection of the mutual interests of our two peoples including those who may join us in this hypothetical organization at a later date. This would entail basic to moderate cooperation on behalf of our two Governments and is certainly not lacking in ambition but the rewards far outweigh any interstellar political concerns. This would not only be a historic achievement involving the first major display of cooperation between Humans and a non-Human race but it would finally preserve a stable balance of power within the Galactic Community.

This would not only allow us to shake off the pressures of external powers it would also enable your people to enter the galactic stage as a force to be reckoned with. With this display of unity we would help to create a new precedent for interstellar cooperation in the interests of preserving peaceful economic and social development without the threat of a conflict for the foreseeable future. This would also have the added benefit of allowing you to gradually reveal yourselves to the Galaxy at your own leisure. The alternative, however, would result in a potentially devastating war between yourself and the USC which would culminate in your diplomatic alienation."

It was a supremely optimistic and ambitious proposal which some could even classify as naive but his words held some weight, the vast majority of Galactic Powers were predominantly made up of Human nations who would no doubt view a supposed attack on Tefeull, for some nations their only source of power, by a hostile Alien force to be a significant threat and what might even be observed as a prelude to increased expansionism by a hostile Alien force. Through this fear alone the USC had the potential to diplomatically isolate the Kal'Bavakorians, but if New Terra were to exercise some of it's diplomatic maneuverability in favor of it's proposed Allies it might just draw some of the ire which would result from the upcoming battle and would allow the establishment of Kal'Bavakorian representation on Armistice Station to be done with little interruption.

Strategically the Kal'Bavakorians and New Terrans stood to gain significantly from such an agreement as the economic potential of trade and financial development between the two nations would enable them to oversee a period of extensive growth whilst militarily the industrial output of New Terra could allow the two nations to occupy a strategically important position for years to come, provided mutual distrust didn't disrupt the procedures.

"No doubt you will wish to contact your Government, I'm sure we can allow a quick recess to that effect, otherwise we would be elated to hear your thoughts."

His proposal was out and there was no reeling it in, if the Kal'Bavakorians were to decline the initial proposal he was prepared to scale it back significantly so long as it retained the same effect but if they declined that as well he would have to consider other options, some of which were non-beneficial to his supposed 'non-Human friends'.

"I certainly hope you will share some of these leads, human.. The lives of three Alliance soldiers depend on it. The Goddess only knows what horrid actions are being taken upon their bodies and minds," Replies the Lord General with a bit of haste in his voice. The Generals helmeted gaze settles intently upon the Marshall in particular as he speaks, making it clear that his only mission in these negotiations is intelligence on the enemy, and he intends to hear them from the Marshall. While the Lady Ambassador and her aids were intent on an alliance between the two stellar empires, the Lord General appears to care only for the missing Alliance forces.

With a quiet, yet sharp series of honks from the Lady Ambassador, whom gazes upon the Lord General, she gently places a hand upon his back. With a silent nod, the Lord General takes a few steps back from the table, and relaxes into an 'at-ease' position behind the Lady Ambassador's seat. Dropping her hands back to her side, she eyes the human officials curiously behind her mask. While, of course, the humans could not see the details of her face besides her illuminated eyes...

She is most ecstatic beneath the surface. She had truly stepped into a 'Gold Mine', as Mankind would say in this sort of situation. An allied force between two powerful nations to make them only the stronger! Trade to empower them, a military to which many would to fear them, a culture to which many would envy them! Of course, this would take intense cooperation between the two groups, creating an exchange market for credits to Terran monies, funding an allied military force, and would require a place of meeting.. Where it would be, it can only be guessed at this time.

The Empress was going to have a field day with this!

After a few moments of these silent thoughts, the Lady Ambassador would, with a soft, hooting chuckle, reply to the Marshalls groundbreaking proposal. Threading her fingers together upon the table, she would reply with great strength..

"I believe it is.. A fantastic idea, dear Marshall. Of course, I shall speak to our Imperial Empress about it, but I have no doubts she will agree to it wholeheartedly. Of course, we both understand this will be a momentous uptaking. If we are to trade together, work together, and flourish together.. We must develop a system of exchange between our currencies, find a meeting ground in which to speak to one another, set up points of trade, develop linguistic technologies.. It will take some time. I do agree, though, that this will be a huge galactic development, and will put us high above other forces that may seek to do us harm. I will send one of my aids to call the Homeworld immediately."

With that, she motions to one of her aids beside her; the one known as Buch Ca'Xon. With a slight nod, the aid begins to rise; leaving the large bag he had taken into the room beside the Ambassadors seat for her use. As Ca'Xon rises, the Lady Ambassador turns back to the Marshall.

"At the same time, I must bring up two other points of interest. A seat on this 'council', as well as our captured Alliance forces. We see our alliance as much more powerful, but we also seek to join this council in order to meet other species and human empires. As for the Lord General's remarks regarding our soldiers.. We have only bad thoughts as to what is happening to them.."

The Ambassadors sighs once. She could only be frowning beneath her visor at this point.

"We believe, and we are probably right in this matter, that they may be dissecting corpses of our dead protectors, and may be torturing and interrogating the living. If you do have any information as to their whereabouts, we ask that you share it. Anything at all. We can return to happier topics afterwards.."

The Marshal smiled, the agreement may very well have just made both himself and the Autocrat of Kal'Bavakor the most powerful people in the Galaxy, not counting any potential dissemination of power in Kal'Bavakor of course.

"I'm happy you find it agreeable, you'll have no issues on our end for the bureaucratic necessities you may not understand this yet but we are a nation of almost forty billion souls and bureaucracy has become our specialty. As for your intelligence worries, is there anything we can give them Lasalle?" he looked to the black uniformed man who promptly gave his input.

"Well, the USC has a very sophisticated intelligence network almost nearing our levels of effectiveness which means it's extremely difficult to pin down some of their more sensitive facilities and their movements are usually well-concealed. We've monitored the vessels used to extract your dead as well as the prisoners but we've been unable to track them down in their own territory, if I had to speculate I'd say they're being held at a facility somewhere in deep space which could be anywhere, theoretically you could jump recon ships around their territories to try and locate it but that would be an arduous task unless you had one impressive sensory system, and that's assuming the base is even anywhere near their home territory.

It's possible to try and pinpoint the location through their intelligence networks, but those are under extremely heavy security in both a physical and metaphysical sense and a breaching attempt could put our entire operation at risk. For all intent and purposes, Ambassador, you should consider them to be already dead as well as the potential for some of your own intelligence to be compromised, all you can hope for now is to return the favor."
he shrugged off the torture and death of the captured Kal'Bavakorians callously, his nature and experiences as an intelligence officer tempered any optimism he may have had.

The Lord General would stiffen somewhat at the words of the human Lasalle; his thick, three-fingered hands clenching up. He pauses not a moment to a allow the Ambassador to speak, instead replying quite hastily,"..No, I do not believe we will consider them dead. Until we have physical proof of their loss, we will continue a search. The Kal'Bavakorians do not forget those we have lost; especially when they have laid their own lives down for the greater good of the many."

Almost immediately, the Lady Ambassador turns in her seat to eye the Lord General; speaking in a calming tone,"Relax, my Lord General; the human did not mean it in such a way.." The Lord General does not reply, and instead places his hands behind his back and moves into a 'parade rest' position. Turning to the human delegation, the Ambassador clasps her hands together upon the table and bows her head somewhat.

"Apologies, dear Humans, the General mean't nothing rude by his remarks, as I am sure you did not either. The battle brothers and sisters of Turra feel a strong connection to one another; stronger than that of Kals of other nations. As for intelligence gathering, if you would please forward any of this information to our craft in orbit, that would be most helpful. We shall have our own intelligence division begin searching as soon as possib-.."

Suddenly, the Lady Ambassadors aide steps back into the room after a good few minutes or so. With his hands clasped behind his back, the aide marches back towards his chair and slides into his seat; speaking at the same time in a rather joyful tone,"I have brought good news from Her Highness!"

The Lady Ambassador glances over at the aide as he takes his seat,"Speak, Buch Ca'Xon; we are eager to hear."

He nods his helmeted head once,"The Empress has agreed to the proposal. She has forwarded to me basic information regarding an alliance between our nations. It is quite long, though, so the humans.."

He motions to the Marshall and his delegate across the table.

"...May wish to bring it to their scribes for further set up. The Empress requests that, once your people finish the basic processing information, that you come to our colony world of Nathari. There are developments for a trade station and an area set for a small human embassy on the planet. The coordinates shall be given at a later time."

"This is excellent news," The Lady Ambassador exclaims with a soft hoot; excited, but not rudely so,"These are wonderful developments."

PostSubject: Re: 08N - Serpent's Lair   08N - Serpent's Lair - Page 2 I_icon_minitimeMon Jun 23, 2014 11:21 am

"So what do you think?"

Passing the traditional Imperial snack he was munching on to the woman before him, the man threw another quick glance towards the entrance to the Palace Grounds. Dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and cargo shorts, the fifty year old male looked extremely out of place: tourists from the United Systems, the few of them that visited New Terra, rarely ever managed to blend in with the crowds. His wife, a female of about the same age wearing a summer dress, eyed the snack with suspicion before taking a bite.

"I think that whatever's going on in there isn't going to please Uncle Sam." she replied nonchalantly, blinking inconspicuously at the parked alien spacecraft at the landing zone, and then again two more times. "But I really didn't expect 'sightseeing' to include aliens." she added, taking another bite out of the delicacy before passing it to her comrade. "Could pull a disappearance, see what they know. I doubt they would appreciate it, but... Well. Who cares."

The man shrugged, finishing the snack in one large gulp. "Too obvious, it's not like we haven't done that one before. It's a shame our contact was fired, we could've bugged the whole palace. Wayne, you got anything?"

Several seconds of delay followed before the communications receipt implant activated, delivering the voice of 'Wayne' directly to the auditory nerves of the two humans: "Nothing on my end, just a video of the alien delegation leaving their craft. Looks like Talbot greeted them personally. Send my your pictures and I'll get it on the next freighter to Europa, I doubt there's anything else we can do. Let Ops handle it."

"Screw this, I have a better idea." muttered the woman, bringing out her cellphone in order to, apparently, grab a 'selfie' with the Palace in the background. In reality, she connected to the camera contact lenses, transmitting the pictures and video she and the man had gathered to this Wayne person. "Sent, you get this to the freighter. We'll keep searching." she explained before walking towards the Palace entrance, where she waved at one of the guards stationed there and put on her best excited-old-lady voice.

"Hey! Guard person, think you could give us a hand? We have been asking around, and someone told us that we can get a tour of the palace! Our transport's leaving in a few hours, so... Think you could let us get a few indoors pictures for the kids?"

Lasalle shook his head at the emotional response from the 'Lord General' and the Marshal understood that some of his delegates would harbor thoughts on what they perceived to be naivety on behalf of the Kal'Bavakorian military leadership. In such a populated society where the common individual was nearly worthless and had to struggle to rise beyond obscurity it was not surprising that pragmatism had became the underlying current of New Terran culture especially in regards to stately functions.

He was about to reply to the Ambassadors request for information when her aide interrupted the discussion with the news from their leader, after which he gave a another reply.

"Indeed. These discussions have been most productive, as I've said you'll have no issues on our end for bureaucratic needs we'll be creating a new office which will provide you with at least ten thousand officials to aid with the diplomatic necessities, and that's only the beginning."he smiled and continued into the next topic.

"Now, I would like to discuss Tefeull, with conflicts flaring up throughout the region I feel it's become necessary to enforce the zones 'historic neutrality' to put an end to these resource struggles, or at least that's our cover. We've had a fleet available in that region for years, originally to seize control of the zone for ourselves, but priorities have changed and increased resource exploitation in one of our other sectors has left us with significant energy independence for the time being.

What I propose is military intervention in the Tefeull Zone in your favor under the guise of promoting the areas neutrality under observation of Armistice Protocols, we have almost two hundred ships capable of intervening immediately with the potential to increase that to nearly three hundred and fifty in the coming days."
he paused allowing the Kal'Bavakorians to digest the information and to fully understand just how dedicated their new allies were.

"What do you say to that?"

Talbot leaned back in his chair, already knowing the Ambassadors answer.

Normally the entrances to the Imperial Palace would be protected by lower ranking members of the Imperial Guard but they were now guarded by ISF Marines, another slight change of many which had come about in the 'Appointment Wars' between the Military and the Imperial Guard in which both forces contended to usurp the most menial of postings in a petty attempt to outplay the other.

Sergeant Geert had command of the watch. He looked with relative interest at the busyness across the street caused by the various tourists and other civilians. He didn't mind the foreigners much which was a token to having only briefly guarded the Southern Gates whereas the previous Guardsmen probably jumped for joy at being relieved from the task, staring down and dealing with the same dumb tourists day after day would have it's toll on anyone after awhile. His men didn't seem to mind either he noticed as two of the four men in his squad were chatting up a group of young foreign girls who giggled and flirted as they enjoyed his comrade's accented English.

New Terran's usually viewed foreign women as exotic and independent and therefore quite attractive, there was many a businessman who married a foreign trophy wife much to the chagrin of reactionaries throughout the nation but with the decline of many old traditions in the wake of the revolution such things carried less of a stigma.

Geert was humming along to a militarist tune playing on the radio in his Guards Hut when the middle-aged woman approached him asking a question which caused him to raise an eyebrow.

"What do you mean...let you inside?"
he was confused, behind him stood the city that was the massive Imperial Palace Complex which was divided up into several Cantons, the one which was behind his gate in particular was the 'Hall of Heroes' which was a universal memorial to soldiers who died under the Imperial Banner.

As he spoke the song hit it's chorus:

Terra!

Terra will rise above!

Terra!

Our day has come!

He looked over to the Guard Hut and shouted to his subordinate inside,

"Ils ont besoin d'un droit de passage?"

"Ehhhh... Oui, oui ils le font."
a voice replied from the building.

He looked back to the woman, "You need a tourist pass to visit the Hall."

The Lady Ambassador was elated at this point. This alliance would be most profitable for both races, indeed. Not only would the Alliance and the Terran economic sectors expand violently because of interstellar trade, but the Alliance military would be able to learn much about their new enemies and allies from the agreement. The Terrans would have combat technologies much like the Coalition, and even if the Alliance had a superior advantage in numbers and resources, they would need to know a great deal about their enemy should they become victorious. Of course, Halla'Zah was not a military expert; she only had rudimentary training in tactics and weaponry, as every Kal'Bavakorian in the Federal Employment Sector had. Such was to train their best and brightest in defense in order to protect themselves, and encourage individualism when the Alliance could not monitor or actively send orders to personnel. The details of military diplomacy would be left to the Lord General, although his agitated mood was worrying her. Nonetheless, she was sure these negotiations would continue smoothly.

With a light, hooting chuckle, Lady Ambassador Halla'Zah would nod as the Marshall continues to speak. Of course, when he offered military aid, she was.. Astounded. Her eyes, as well as the eyes of the rest of her personnel, would visibly widen beneath their helmets at the words of the Marshall... It was clear they did not expect this. They wished to give military aid to their forces? This was incredible! The Lady Ambassador was not even sure how to reply to this, although the Lord General was more than eager to take her place in this area.

Placing a rugged hand upon the Lady Ambassadors shoulder, Lord General Tormuk Ra'Thun would speak for her in his characteristic harsh, thickly accented tone.

"The Alliance accepts your assistance with open arms. An Alliance born in the flames of combat would cement the bonds of this new agreement between our nations, and we are honored that you would go so far to help us, so early..

While our forces are unaware if you have been surveying the battle, although I expect you have, I will give a quick 'briefing' of our situation in the area given present information. I have not recently received an update from our fleet in the field, but Alliance military intelligence forces have been made aware that the USC fleet is equipped with state of the art military technology. "

He pauses to make a light 'clicking' noise, something no human could possibly repeat given their physical abilities of speech, before continuing. He manages to speak in a rather monotone voice, given his accent and garbled English.

"While the Alliance has not faced the brunt of the enemy fleet, they have made contact with a single ship; possibly their flagship. It is larger than any spacecraft our military forces have made contact with.. We estimate multiple kilometers in length. The vessel is fielded with advanced electromagnetic armor defenses, multiple meters of plating, and drone launching capabilities. Its main weapon is a bow-mounted, high capacity, high-mass and velocity railgun that is many times larger than regular dreadnaught rail-cannons, and has extreme range capabilities.."

The Lord General exhales once; it almost seems to stressing to him to just speak of the alien spacecraft.

"So far, our forces have found no weak-point on the craft. Last we heard, the Alliance Fleet was preparing to engage this flagship at long range. We expect another report in the next hour. I would relay this information before sending your forces into battle, as this enemy craft appears to be extremely resilient."

The Lord General, with a nod from his helmeted head, takes a step back from the table. The Lady Ambassador, inhaling once, would learn forward to take the reigns of the negotiations once more.

"Yes. The Coalition Fleet seems to have launched its entire navy against our forces in the Field. If you send your forces to assist us, we would be extremely grateful. The Alliance would also be extremely interested, upon our combined forces defeating the Coalition, in capturing Coalition technology and personnel for our intelligence operatives to survey and replicate or, in respect to Coalition forces, interrogate. We will, of course, share any information and technology gathered with your forces upon capture."

The Lady Ambassador leans back in her chair as well, just as the Marshall does. Raising her hands, she weaves her fingers together before closing her hands. In a light tone, she replies..

"To sum all of this up, we would love support in the Mining Field."

08N - Serpent's Lair - Page 2 Character_concept_by_thomaswievegg-d73ndwx

"What do you think of the human females..?"

"They're tall, which is a bit weird... But they got some nice 'glands' on them, if you get what I'm saying."

The two Alliance soldiers, escaping for a moment their military discipline, let out a quiet hooting chuckle as they continue watching the perimeter of the Imperial Palace. Of course, while they had no authority on the human grounds, it was still their job to ensure the safety of the Lord General and the Alliance ambassadors. They still had a moment to enjoy the sights, though, and the aliens and their architecture were something to admire; the architecture especially. It was less 'organic' than Kal'Bavakorian buildings, which were rounder, taller and thinner in build, and all unique in their own ways. The human women were something to admire, too, when there weren't multiple female Alliance soldiers standing in their formation; one of whom was their commanding NCO.

"Both of you, silence yourselves. This is a sentient, alien world; not a goddess-damned whore aquarium!"

Both soldiers would immediately go quiet; moving into a much more attentive position as they hooted quietly,"Aye, Lady Sergeant."

It takes no less than a moment for this particular Lady Sergeant to take her attention away from the two Alliance Legionaries, and instead focus on the two humans standing before the Imperial Palace. They stood out like sore thumbs, dressed in their odd clothing with flowers and 'summer dress'.. Strange to be wearing such clothing in a society of higher class, at least in the Sergeants point of view. The humans had to be foreign, and the Alliance was only aware of one other human society in the galaxy...

The Coalition. This fact made the Sergeant almost immediately suspicious. Of course, they could be tourists simply gawking at the aliens that had landed earlier, but it seemed all too convenient; especially now that they wanted entrance into the Palace.

"Specialist Vara'Kun, you are in command until I return," Barked Lady Field Sergeant Cara Las'Un as she began to step away from the squad. The Specialist, standing in what had been the middle of the formation, replies in a confused tone.

"Of course, Lady Sergeant.. But where are y-.."

She was already gone. Without a moment to spare, the Lady Sergeant would march her way towards the entrance of the Imperial Palace. The short, slender alien woman dressed in her odd armor, with equally odd rifle and gear hanging off her back, would make her way towards, and up, the stairs of the Imperial Palace. Such a walk was done with visible purpose, and her gaze was centered on the two humans speaking to the Terran Marine guard at the door.

(( Apologies for the inconvenience but I feel there might be a bit of a misunderstanding of the exact size and dimensions of the Imperial Palace, as specified in my initial post the Palace Complex is a huge area of land encompassing around 80 square kilometers.

To give a reference, the Forbidden City in Beijing is only 1 square kilometer, this is 80.

Another reference, using yet another Asian City, urban Pyongyang discounting the size of the province itself and focusing on the city alone is only about 100 square kilometers so when I describe it as being the size of a small city its quite accurate.

I apologize if my initial post wasn't exactly spot on with it's description and this lead to confusion. Also I should be able to reply tomorrow provided there isn't a nuclear exchange within the next 12 hours or so. ))

(( I was under the impression Alien positioned his characters outside of the Palace entirely, this is what I meant when I said I blew it since I've described the Admiralty building as being within the complex itself, which means Alien's characters would be at one of the entrances of the Palace which may very well be several miles from the Admiralty.

Alternatively if Alien wants we can just say his characters are part of a group of tourists who were allowed to enter the NMC for whatever reason and that would preserve it quite nicely, unless that's what he had in mind the whole time in which case keep rolling with it. ))

New Terran Imperial Palace
Naval Military Canton, Imperial Admiralty Building

Talbot tapped his fingers on the table as he listened to the General's long-winded reply, he wasn't being told anything he didn't already know. New Terran military strategy for the past century was based around compensating for a lack of cutting edge military technology with ingenious use of military resources. Whilst most navies fielded large ships capable of projecting force as one entity the New Terrans fielded hordes of small and medium sized ships capable of supporting each-other in a variety of different roles, the greater versatility allowed a capable commander to easily outmaneuver even the most nimble of common vessels and the relative size of the vessels allowed New Terra to easily replenish it's losses whilst being able to utilize it's massive pool of manpower.

Whilst the strategic and economic benefits of partnership with Kal'Bavakor interested the Marshal he was even more interested in potential technological benefits, a common theory amongst academics and analysts was that if New Terra could close the technological gap with the 'Alpha Quadrant Powers' it would easily become the most powerful nation in the Galaxy, although this theory wasn't without it's detractors.

He looked back up to see that the Lord General was still telling them what they already knew, he was beginning to prefer the Lady Ambassadors elegance and charm to the gruff nature of the General. As Tormuk began to point out his own forces strategy one of the Marshal's delegates spoke up, it was the Commander of the 1st Fleet.

"You should continue to engage them at long range to probe their defensive capabilities, USC ships are notoriously gargantuan and it's my personal recommendation that your forces attempt to disable the propulsion and navigation systems wherever possible on those tubs, if they can't maneuver then theoretically they'll be a sitting target with which you can slowly dispatch from long range whilst interdicting any of their oncoming attacks."

After giving his opinion he settled back down and allowed the Lady Ambassador to wrap up the previous conversation with her peoples intended plans of management and technological study. When she spoke of interrogating the USC prisoners, however, the mood of the Terran delegation seemed to dip and they began whispering to each-other, some even looked to the Marshal who quickly stepped in to address their concerns after the Ambassador finished speaking.

"Apologies, but we feel it would be better if we handled any potential captured personnel, it will be more politically convenient and may allow us to broker a favorable cessation of hostilities if the USC is comfortable knowing that their people are being handled by their own kind,  you will still be free to analyze any captured technological assets you are able to uncover in the meantime."

Outside the Admiralty, Sergeant Geert continued to speak with the middle-aged woman asking for entry, replying that she required a tourist pass. He was unaware of the movements of the Kal'Bavakorian soldier behind him.

While he was sure his Lady Ambassador was enjoying the aliens, the Lord General himself was not. The humans seemed pompous; they had a superior attitude to them that made his mandibles shudder in frustration. Especially these individuals who, so powerful in their positions, were clearly blinded by their advantages in living conditions and abilities. The Lord General was sure that, if he took a walk a few kilometers outside this 'Palace', he would find the peoples of New Terra poor and ill-fed. Saddening, seeing how this space-faring sect of humanity clearly had the ability to produce at great levels.

The Alliance was much different. While the Marshalls comrades seemed confused, and even offended, that Lord General Ra'Thun would be so frustrated by their disregard of Kal lives, the Alliance saw potential in each life. To serve the people was his duty, and the duty of every Kal'Bavakorian who ever served the Alliance. A common rally for Alliance soldiers was 'The needs of the many outweighed the needs of the few', something that the General took to heart. From a young age, he and his peers were taught that, to survive as a people, the Kal'Bavakorians must be united in purpose and in practice; the Alliance was their salvation from a nuclear-assisted demise, from starvation, from total collapse as a species. Thus every Kal'Bavakorian, weak or strong, rich or poor, must serve a greater purpose. These especially included the powerful, such as the senators or the rich warlords of past conflicts; beings not dazzled with their gifts, and instead used their powers to help those in need. Even the Empress and her Council would, every so often, volunteer at a Wounded Legion rally to help wounded Alliance soldiers, or feed the hungry. It was a state in which working together was rewarded, and it was the only reason the Kals were as strong and united as they were today since their division during the Great War of the previous decade.

Those soldiers at Teuffel gave their lives, and their freedom, to defend their homeland and their people. How the Terrans were so blind as to this made him sick to his stomach. Nevertheless, he must continue his negotiations.. Even as the bored eyes of the Marshall Talbot glared down upon him.

"When you deploy your fleet to Teuffel, you may relay this information to them. While we would send this information immediately, we have no direct contact with them. Such might give their position away to the Coalition Fleet."

Unless it was a quantum communication, but that wasn't really something to mention. He took a moment to gaze over at the Lady Ambassador, and Halla'Zah quickly returned his gaze. Even beneath the helmets, they both quietly brought to mind a similar thought. They had to be wary, for who knew what the Terrans true interests were? They seemed charming and kind enough, and would remain so, so long as the Alliance served their interests. These thoughts brought silence to the two as they listened to the Marshall and his dignitaries...

The New Terran's reply towards the Lord General's mentioning of prisoners would immediately break said silence. It was the Alliance delegates turn to pause and speak to one another quietly in their native tongue. Not being able to take human prisoners, even after their enemy had readily done so? It was an outrage, if anything, and not one this group of Alliance delegates would accept quietly. Not even giving the Lord General the ability to reply, the Lady Ambassador, in her most charming and calming of tones, would speak.

"While we understand your reasoning, we cannot accept this position. The Coalition has captured Alliance persons, and are learning vital information about our people in the process. As such, the Alliance 'must', and 'will' be taking human prisoners as to learn more about our enemy."

The Ambassador gives the Marshall a light nod, and gazes at the entire New Terran delegate as she begins to speak again.

"I can assure you the Alliance will not cause physical harm to these human beings. We do not condone torture, and simply coerce information from prisoners using non-harmful means. We have no intentions of partaking in a prolonged war, we understand you fear here, but the capture and questioning of human prisoners is something our people must do. As I previously mentioned, they will be taken care of, questioned harmlessly, and will be returned to either New Terran or Coalition custody upon completion of questioning. As we have trusted you, you must trust our people...

They can afford no less in this time of crisis."

The Kal'Bavakorian Sergeant makes her way up behind the Terran Marine. Placing her hands behind her back, she would promptly ask in extremely accented, garbled English..

"Soldier, is this human attempt to enter Palace?"

The Terrans were far from blind, in fact they understood all too well. Their reliance on pragmatism was more a result of extreme caution rather than one of malevolence and greed, too many good-natured plans had backfired and caused more harm than good for them to hold the same optimism in the intentions of the common individual as the Kal'Bavakorians did. They didn't have the luxury of advanced technologies or a manageable population as the Kal'Bavakorians had, instead all they began with was nothing more than a unified and proud people and with that every major problem which had presented itself had since been overcome of course only to be replaced with yet another issue but that was the nature of governance.

The early Kobrynska Dynasty was the first to espouse the idea of meritocratic leadership and just rule which would become the defining basis for the 'ideal ruler' of New Terra, one that would be competent and adhering to common sense. Under such inspirations the food shortages were resolved during the reign of the three Leopolds and it was under Daeso II when large-scale education reform policies were instituted basing educational advancement entirely on academic ability rather than wealth or privilege. This meeting itself was a testament to these reforms, of the eleven people sitting for the Imperial Delegation only three were of the nobility with the rest coming from humble backgrounds having proven their worth long before their current appointments had come.

The New Terran leadership understood that with their positions of great power came even greater responsibility. In the past there had never been a tyrannical Ruler capable of absolute control without threat of overthrow and the recent events involving the coup had only been another repeat of a long series of historical events in which Emperors and officials who's loss of the 'Peoples Mandate' lead to their downfall. Talbot was no different, he understood the values necessary to lead his people and as a result he had assembled one the most effective ruling cabinets in New Terran history. There was a reason they sang 'Maréchal, nous voilà!' in the streets as Marshal Talbot had utilized his immense power and influence as head of the Military to push forward a series of reforms from the abolition of the Imperial system of 'Pseudo-Feudalism' to affordable housing projects and massive anti-corruption campaigns which, alongside his widespread usage of populist rhetoric, catapulted him into a position of extreme popularity with the people, especially of the lower and middle classes.

But now his attempts to strengthen the New Terran strategic position had become hindered due to disagreements with their allies, an errant thought entered his mind and he was prepared to withdraw completely from the discussion when Lasalle offered a solution to the issue,

"If I may interject," he looked around and, seeing no opposition, he kept on. "It would indeed be wise for us to project the view of the prisoners being held within our custody, but this isn't necessarily an absolute requirement." he leaned back in his chair.

"Sure, they would be held by us, but that doesn't mean we can't mutually cooperate with their interrogation, there are many discreet facilities we can use where an extra ship or two wouldn't be noticed and this could allow us a great opportunity to set a precedent of cooperation between both of our intelligence-gathering entities therefore allowing us to establish a working relationship with which we might be able to greatly increase mutual effectiveness." he peered down to his console and began inputting information as he continued to speak,

"What I propose is that the political and diplomatic fallout be masked by an 'official' handing over of prisoners to our custody as a form of 'goodwill' on your behalf awarding both of us a brief propaganda advantage whilst behind the scenes our two agencies will cooperate with the interrogation of the prisoners, we understand much of USC protocols and we can offer some stimulating insight when it comes to these matters this way both our Governments can be satisfied with the result, what do you think so far General, Ambassador?" he looked up and gave a half smile, his words betrayed that he may very well not have been the completely callous bastard he originally seemed, in fact he appeared quite reasonable and as if having a good amount of insight into the matter.

"A tourist pass? Oh, yeah, of course! Sorry!" answered the woman, searching around in her expensive leather bag for her identification and credentials. Like all tourists from the Coalition, the pair seemed to lack a sense of organisation: in fact, some tourists took hours to remember that their passports were in the hotel, or that their tourist passes had expired, or any number of silly mishaps. Coupled with a general lack of understanding of New Terran culture, the appearance of tourists from the Coalition, most of them wealthy by all accounts, was a comical but profitable occurrence.

A few seconds later, she passed a bundle of papers, cards and even some advertisement leaflets to the guard. Everything would appear to be in order: passports, tourist passes, the tickets for the flight out, using a popular Coalition jump-capable spaceplane operator, identification, pictures of two children, and of them as adults, pictures of a house on the colony of Chicago and everything in-between. If there was one thing the Central Intelligence Agency did right, it was backgrounds. There was too much risk in forging papers on the New Terran side, so instead it took years to create its agents, going through all the proper procedures without cutting corners.

Soon enough, the woman's husband joined her, grumbling something about them potentially missing their flight if they took too long and how much they had paid for the ticket. Nevertheless, he presented his own tourist pass at the guard. And then, the alien showed up: expertly acting out surprise, the pair almost jumped at the sudden arrival of the Kal'bavakorian, staring at its three fingers in apparent awe. The man even brought his cellphone out, trying to take a picture of the alien while the woman pointed at it. "What... is... that?!" she asked in apparent fear, taking a few steps backwards.

Geert took his time viewing the documents he was given, flipping through the various photos and papers at random trying to seem more like he knew what he was doing rather than actually verifying the documents, it was only his second day of guarding the Admiralty and he still knew very little of the actual protocols behind the station.

He was about to give up and walk over to the Guard Station when the combined efforts of the Kal'Bavakorian hand on his shoulder and the startled reaction of the tourists caused him to nearly jump in the air, he quickly stepped back and put a free hand on the slung SMG by his hip, seemingly by instinct.

"This is..." he was about to answer the Womans question first but he stopped himself midway and instead spoke to the Alien,

"Aye they are," he remembered her question, "They're tourists." he paused for a moment before speaking again.

"I don't think you're supposed to be out here."

He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

This sudden interjection by Lasalle was one that was graciously welcomed by the Alliance delegate; clear by the sudden relaxation in both the Lady Ambassador and her fellow diplomats, as well as the Lord General himself. It seems the Alliance, and the New Terrans, would have their wishes filled within' these negotiations if such a plan was put into place.

Lady Ambassador Halla'Za would turn to the Lord General after a moment of silent thought. With a gentle 'honk' in his direction, she seems to ask him a question of some sort. A small conversation follows in their odd, animal-like language; clicks, hoots, and other odd noises followed by a few spoken 'words'.

"Shaaaaa'sksbaaaa ke-ke-ke..?" She asks, her helmet's mouthpiece lighting up with each word.

"Skhaaa nus'akbna. Astuuuuu'kenuaaaoi hootas hotsnaaaa ke-ke na." He replies in his normal monotone, gruff voice. The accent is gone, with his tone fitting the odd language quite perfectly.

"Hsbaaaki dk'lakjaiu." With that last bit of mind-numbing language, the Lady Ambassador turns back to the assembly. Placing her hands gingerly upon the table, the Lady Ambassador would nod softly in the Marshall's direction. With a happier sound to her voice, she returns to English.

"I must say, your subordinate has put a very good idea up in these negotiations. As long as we can properly work out a plan that allows us both equal access to these prisoners, then the Alliance agrees wholeheartedly to this plan."

A pause as she then gazes over at the human Lasalle, extending a hand in his direction.

"Thank you, sir."

She then looks back to the Marshall.

"I am eager to hear your thoughts."

The Lady Sergeant was almost baffled into silence by the outburst of the human female. You'd think a sentient race would have learned some semblance of what respect was in their hatchling years! Gazing upwards at the two taller human tourists, the Lady Sergeant immediately spots the camera device; taking her attention away from replying to the woman, and the Terran Marine beside her. Of course, it was alien in nature, but it doesn't take a scientist to figure out what a camera looked like..

And she was not about to break protocol, and let some human post her picture in a government data-base or online site.

Without pause, one of her armored, three-fingered hands would snap upwards; her hand immediately pressing against the cameras lens. She keeps her hand there and, in quite sketchy, accented English, the female Kal'Bavakorian speaks. Her words are somewhat synthetic sounding due to her helmet, although the frustration in it could be easily recognized.

"One, if you try take photo, I break or take camera. Two.."

She snaps her gaze over to the human female and, with a series of angry sounding clicking noises, mutters.

"I am not thing. Then again, I could ask you same question."

She then turns her focus onto the Marine.

"Yes, I am allowed here, and you know why. For reason such, I ask you not allow tourist inside. I know this is your home, your rules, but I am soldier, and I must guard my people. No tourist until they leave, please."

Talbot nodded along with Lasalles suggestion for compromise and while the Kal'Bavakorians spoke amongst themselves he was quick to note the side conversation taking place between members of his own side through whispers. Lasalle nodded humbly to the Lady Ambassadors words of gratitude and endorsement of his plan and once-more the attentions of the table shifted back to the Marshal.

"I must admit I have to show similar gratitude and respects to my 'subordinates' good judgement and I will also support this plan." he said, smiling.

He was about to speak further when the door at the other side of the room slid open and in walked the same bearded man wearing a blue uniform as before who wasted little time speaking up,

"Mot de la flotte,"his attentions were on the half of the table sitting closest to him. "Ils sont prêts à commencer engagement avec la flotte ennemie."

Three men looked back to the Marshal who only gave them a nod and they quickly stood in unison, the men who had previously labeled themselves as the 1st Fleet Commander, the 3rd Army Group Commander and the Commander of the Special Operations Group had all stood up and bowed to the Marshal before quickly departing for the open door.

The last man to leave was the bearded man who both saluted and bowed before also leaving through the same door, Talbot looked back to the Kal'Bavakorians,

"Looks like it's time for our our own little dance to begin, we Terrans have an old saying for situations like this," he focused his attention on the Lady Ambassador.

"Alea iacta est - the die is cast."

PostSubject: Re: 08N - Serpent's Lair   08N - Serpent's Lair - Page 2 I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 08, 2014 8:31 am

Staring in an apparent mix of shock and horror as the alien being spoke, the two 'tourists' seemed greatly disturbed by the sight, for more reasons than one. For one, their mission demanded that they appear afraid of the alien being, and the natural reaction to such a crude, eerie performance of English by an alien being was enough to creep out pretty much anyone who encountered it for the first time. But the two agents were also disgusted at the fact that the New Terrans seemed to have allowed the aliens in their home for negotiations: humans were dying in Tefeull to ensure the continued supremacy of humanity over the monsters that occupied the vacuum of space, and the New Terrans were having tea and biscuits with them.

Lowering the smartphone, the male glanced at the guard, and then at his partner. He tried to keep his eyes from meeting with the mask of the alien out of fake fear, and he gulped. They had all of the pictures they needed on video, captured through the contact lenses, and all they had to do then was get out of the palace, transmit it to their contact and let him send it to the Coalition over the internet under the guise of ordering consumer goods. The two tourists took a few steps backwards, as if regretting their request to see the palace, and the woman shook her head slightly. "Um... Thank you, but... We'll just... Like... We've got to catch our plane, so... Thank you." she stuttered at the guard, completely ignoring the Kal'bavakorian.

Caring little for the internal conflicts of either of the two individuals and ignorant of the potential ramifications Geert ignored the Lady Sergeant at first and instead called to the couple as they started backwards,

"Don't forget your documents!" he said as he held out the papers.

That moment the central gates to the Admiralty swung open and an armored vehicle powered through the entrance at a high speed followed by a black staff car, the small flags on it's hood signaled it as belonging to a Fleet Admiral and on closer inspection one was able to see three men sitting in the rear seats. Shortly afterwards the gates swung closed again.

After handing over the papers, Geert would look back to the Lady Sergeant,

"Well looks like you scared them off, no tourists, no problems." he said, smiling.
