Technology Tags: Robotics: Due to the lower population compared to most other space faring societies and species, the RSI has invested a great deal of resources both into the production and efficiency of their drones. Taking care of most of the menial tasks, droids allow the RSI human population to focus on military or scientific pursuits. Droids also function on the military level, capable of repairing and running a ship with the assistance of the on-board AI, and on the ground level different droids can function to fit almost any role on the battlefield, from grunt to artillery. The RSI is capable of producing a great deal of more drones and droids very quickly in order to keep their society extremely efficient, however, this lack of menial labor gives the humans of the RSI a sort of "elevated" view of themselves.
Artificial and Virtual Intelligence: In order to maintain the incredibly large population of droids and drones, the RSI use incredibly complex Artificial and Virtual Intelligence platforms.Each is connected and controls a series of networks from waste disposal to targeting computers aboard a destroyer. Every RSI Naval ship has an on-board high-functioning fully capable AI, charged with overseeing most of the ships day-to-day activities, along with most battle functions. This allows the human crew on board to be relatively small. Extradordinary measures have been put in place in order to deter any hacking attempts.
Military Focus: After almost 100 years of constant war, the RSI has developed a fixation on conflict. Getting selected for Naval or Marine service is by far one of the most prestigious and sought after career, requiring years of training and practice. This training and lust for combat makes their standard military forces seem elite, and special forces qualified, compared to the average military unit. However, to keep these traits, the RSI only recruits the smartest and most capable, making their human force relatively small. Scientific research focuses around fueling the RSI war machine, and developing cutting-edge technology regarding weapons and armor, both on the ground and in space.
Cybernetics: Obsessed with the progression of the human genome, and "elevating" humanity, the RSI has invested a considerable amount of resources in order to make them stronger, smarter, faster, and more capable than they ever were. Cybernetics are mass produced, and distributed to 100% of the population. Combined with genetic engineering, cybernetics allow the average human to live a much longer life, usually consisting of 150 years. However, some might not even consider many RSI citizens as even human anymore.
Genetic Engineering: Genetic Engineering has been a scientific focus of the Imperium since its inception. Each RSI citizen has been genetically altered at birth in order to produce the "Perfect" human being. If a handicap seems to exist, it is quickly corrected through the use of cybernetics or genetic engineering. Still trying to maintain uniqueness in the gene pool, the genetic scientists attempt to keep astetics mostly unique, and only attempt to alter things such as height, brain development, blood and muscle quality, and bone structure.
Species: Humanoid: The RSI consists of mostly humans, however each human is engineered to be genetically superior, and they are also augmented with neural and muscular cybernetics, making them, on average, smarter and more capable than the rest of humanity.
Shawktae: A reptilian species much stronger and faster than your average human, the Shawktae were discovered already living on the planet Olympus when the RSI colonized it. Their technological advances had just begun to reach space faring status, and they had colonized their moon, known to the RSI as Aeaea. Extremely violent, and short-sighted, the Shawktae were constantly warring with one another, and commited mass genocides on the planet's other species before the arrival of the RSI.
Homeworld Name: Olympus Homeworld Location: 03M
Homeworld Description: A planet slightly smaller than Earth, consisting temperate climates and covered with about 45% water at the surface, Olympus is thriving with fauna and animal life. However, the local animal and plant life is extremely hostile and aggressive. The singular moon, Aeaea, was also a capable of life, and had the environment of a thick rain forest. However, the planet was found to be host to a wide range of extremely hostile, and extremely deadly natives, known as the Shawktae, a somewhat advanced species of reptiles against the foreign presence of the RSI. Local systems consist of resource dry gas planets, minus one Helium-3 rich moon. However, the Imperium has almost completely depleted it of resources.
Political System: Communist, Oligarchy
History: In 2350, a group of radical scientists and their followers cut their ties from the shackles of humanity in order to pursue the creation of the "perfect" human. Severing communications and taking with them millions of men and women who followed their idea of creating the perfect human, they ventured deep into space looking for a home to call their own. Stumbling upon Olympus far from Sol, the first Imperials stepped foot on their homeworld. Making a deal with the local population, the Shawktae, they were able to live in harmony for almost 50 years. The Shawktae learned much from the Imperium, and they worked well, the RSI providing them with new technology, while the Shawktae gave them protection in order to carry out their research.
The Shawktae leader, Ug'Thatcha
This peace was ended by a leader, Ug'Thatcha who was a radical in the eyes of the RSI. Using the technology they had been given, the Shawktae were united by Ug'Thatcha and began a war against the RSI. Unprepared, the RSI suffered extremely heavy losses for the first 10 years, and almost were completely wiped out. The Imperium was almost pushed off the planet completely before the tide began to turn towards their favor. War sped up the production of droids, and the progress of cybernetics. The creation of millions of cheap expendable droids, with the combination of genetically engineered supercommandos allowed the RSI to gain ground against their reptilian foes. The war lasted on Olympus for another 40 years, and the Shawktae were pushed onto Aeaea.
50 years of war created a new society. The RSI had created an army of droids numbered in the billions, and their soldiers and citizens alike were all genetically engineered to be extremely deadly. New AI were developed to micromanage the large amount of robotic military and was applied elsewhere in society. The Praetorian program was instituted to create a new breed of super soldier, and proved to be extremely efficient. 5 years of a cease fire existed.
Marines push towards a Shawktae stronghold during the invasion of Aeaea.
The RSI then launched a deadly offensive on Aeaea, lasting 30 more years this conflict was a push to remove the last Shawktae from the system. Changing their strategy, the RSI focused more on surgical strikes and elite operations carried out by their well trained Marines or Praetorians. Small pockets of resistance flare up, however the Shawktae population has been mostly eradicated or exiled to the farthest reaches of space. Many fled to the nearby Mojave system, home of the infamous Eclipse pirates.
The RSI continues to face resistance from the Shawktae, and is now beginning to see hit-and-runs from the local pirate population, spurred on by Shawktaes. However, it is beginning to move beyond its borders, and beginning to expand.
Culture: The Imperium prides itself on productivity. With the extensive use of robotics, there is little need for a caste system, and the people are generally happy. However, after almost 100 years of war, the Imperials have developed a taste for war, and a taste for victory. Their society now revolves mostly around the idea of expansion. At the head of the Imperium consists of a council of leaders. Important decisions regarding the entire empire are left in the hands of the Minister of Defense, The Minister of Intelligence and Foreign Affairs, The Minister of Resources and Production, The Minister of Science, and The Minister of Human Resources. These men and women are highly confidential, and most do not even know who they are. Success of the Imperium relies on the trust in the government from the population. Honestly, the population has little to complain about. Everyone is granted equal rights, living conditions are extremely well, war is welcomed and a way of life, and due to genetic engineering and cybernetics, the average human is rarely sick.
Military Specifications:

Consisting of almost entirety reserve forces, the RSI's army is put in place in the scenario that Olympus or Aeaea is ever assaulted. Conscription for the Army Starts at 18 while the man or woman is still in school. They receive 4 years of military training and are only stationed at a base for a year or two, with a required service of at least two years. They remain on reserves until they are 170, and must attend regular training in order to keep them sharp. All citizens must undergo conscription and thus they are all trained for combat, however a great deal of them never see it. Officers are usually picked from the top candidates and attend an additional two years of schooling before getting commissioned. Their required time is also extended by at least 5 years of active duty.
1st Special Activities Detachment: Also known as the Black suns, they are a black ops unit of the Imperial Army consisting of about 800 to 1000, they are often used to support and assist the Office of Military Intelligence PHANTOM operatives. Extremely proficient, Black Suns usually operate in conjunction with PHANTOMS paramilitary operations. Candidates must attend a rigorous program on Aeaea where almost 80% will drop out.
Star Corps pilot
Star Corps: While many of the Imperium's flight-capable equipment is manned by drones, some pilots are needed. The Army's Star Corps provides these pilots. After spending 2 years in the initial training, Star Corps candidates are selected and sent to flight school for an additional 6 years. Wash-outs are dropped and returned to basic training and must serve the rest of their time in the regular Army forces.

To an Imperial, being selected for the Marine force is one of the greatest honors you can achieve. Starting at 12, candidates are sent to the military school located on Aeaea where alongside regular schooling, they learn extensive military strategy. After the candidates reach the age of 16 they begin rigorous physical conditioning, extensive combat operation training, and begin to get selected to enlist as an elite shock trooper, or become part of the 8th Recon Battalion. At 18 they begin receiving military grade physical and chemical augmentation. After 4 more years of extensive training, they are transferred to an active duty company, and serve there for the rest of their military career, usually spanning 30-40 years. After which they could serve as a training officer or instructor.
8th Recon Brigade: The first into the fight. The 8th Recon Battalion is made up of a few thousand men and women trained to gather as much information in a hostile battlefield as possible. Lightly armored, but extremely mobile, the 8th Recon is exceptionally skilled at remaining hidden as long as they want.
Praetorian Delta Squad.
Praetorian Defense Initiative: Created after 10 years of the Shawktae war, the PDI was instated to create the most deadly super soldier. Ethically questionable, Praetorians are killing machines. Genetically engineered at birth, and taken imminently to a highly classified location on Olympus, Praetorians are literally raised from birth to be soldiers. Standing, on average, at about 7 feet tall, Praetorians are augmented to the point where they really are more machine then human. Trained in military strategy and tactics for 24 years, they are the best the Imperium has to offer. With an extremely high success rate, Praetorians operate in small teams carrying out vital surgical strikes on enemy forces. They are ruthless, efficient, and very deadly.
21st Combat Engineer Battalion: Nicknamed "Tech Priests", the 21st are the only group of Marines that did not undergo the rigorous 12 years of Marine training. Instead, these men and women are recruited from the Army, and selected for their talents in not only repairing RSI tech, but identifying and using foreign technology. Highly educated in their field, these soldiers are always escorted by Shock Troopers.
The Red Sun Imperium Navy: Active: 9,000 Reserves:10,000

With a focus on fire power, the Imperial Navy focuses on the use of battleships and cruisers armed to the teeth with long range weapons to punch through the enemy's ships, allowing the carries to get in close and devastate the enemy using an onslaught of drones and bombers. Due to advanced Artificial Inteligence and droid assistance, human presence on-board most ships is almost non-existent.
Like the Marines, the Imperium Navy picks its officers at the age of 12, and sends them to a Naval Academy on Olympus. They study Naval tactics and even participate in extensive combat training throughout their time there. Also, like the Marine forces, they are extensively augmented. Upon reaching the age of 24, they are moved into the reserves, until a spot opens up where they can serve.
Magnetic Accelerator Cannon (MAC) Platform: Almost entirely immobile, these stations are positioned primarily around Olympus and her moon in order to deter foreign invasion. These platforms are centered around incredibly large cannons that can pierce a hole straight through most ships. However, these stations are only capable of moving slightly in order to position the cannon, and they are by no means capable of travel between planets.
Hermes-Class Stealth Frigate: One of the newest additions to the RSI Navy, this stealth frigate is given almost exclusively for the use of the Office of Military Intelligence. At 180 meters its crew is small, and only armed with one missile launcher and point defense turrets. Where it lacks in firepower, it makes up in recon capabilities.
Vulcan-Class Frigate: Serving a more all-purpose support role Vulcan is lightly armed, but is very flexible. It is capable of serving a multitude of roles, such as a recon, research, anti-fighter or even supply ship.
Apollo-Class Destroyer: This gun-boat is heavily armed to server anti-cruiser and anti-battleship roles.
Hades-Class Cruiser: The Hades is the RSI's long range gun-boat. Supporting a central MAC (Smaller than the platform)this ship is designed to take out Battleships and cruisers.
Nemesis-Class Cruiser: Lacking the energy sucking MAC platform aboard the Hades-Class Cruiser, the Nemesis holds a wider range of smaller armaments. The ship is slightly larger than its cruiser counterpart, and contains a small hangar as well.
Poseidon-Class Battleship: The Poseidon is a battleship that supports a large hangar, alongside heavier weaponry. This ship is incredibly useful to the RSI as an all-purpose ship.
Zeus-Class Carrier: This carrier has mostly been but put out of service due to the lack of need for such large carriers. Used to deploy incredibly large amounts of droids and drones to both the ground and space, these carriers are left mostly on stand-by. Along with supporting 4 incredibly large hangars, this ship also supports 4 Large Auto-Turrets and 2 Heavy Missile bays.
Ares-Class Dreadnought: While the Imperium only has a few, this heavily armed gunboat boasts the biggest offensive capabilities of any imperial ship.
Titan-Class Superdreadnought: The only type of this ship fielded by the RSI, the Prometheus is a staggering 3 KM long. Armed with a large hangar bay, 10 Heavy Missile Bays, 6 Large Auto-Turrets, and 4 MAC Turrets, this ship is extremely slow, but hits extremely hard.

Consisting of some of the smartest and most disciplined, OMI's goal is to gather information on artifacts, technology, customs, government and anything else they can discover regarding other space faring societies. The OMI holds command over the infamous PHANTOM division. PHANTOM Operatives are recruited from either the Naval or Marine academy, trained extensively in both conventional and unconventional warfare, counter-terrorism, intelligence gathering, counter intelligence, assassinations, direct action, and a plethora of other skills. They operate for the most part with a very small marine detachment in order to support them. Their operations are usually highly classified.
Imperium Ballistics Corps

The Imperium Ballistics Corps, or IBC, is tasked with creating and maintaining weapons of mass destruction including nuclear and biological. The IBC is also tasked with creating defensive countermeasures against the threat of these types of weapons. ISBM weapons fall within this Corps' jurisdiction. Because of the nature of their work, the IBC works for both the Ministry of Science and the Ministry of Defense.
Armory
Infantry Armor:
Hercules Mark IV: Standard issue for most Army units, this armor is weaker compared to the newer Shield Mark II armor used by the marines. This is due to the fact that it isn't power armor in the first place. However, the body armor is still heavily protective of the user, and allows a wide range of movement. Environmentally sealed, and with a complex HUD, it still contends as a decent suit of body armor, even without the exoskeleton.
Shield Mark I: Created during the Shawktae war, the Mark I was created to withstand the extreme conditions it encountered. Completely phased out for the Mark II, the Mark I requires no exo-skeleton to function properly and is weaker than both the Mark II and III.
Shield Mark II: Standard issue for Imperium Marines, the Shield Mark II is environmentally sealed and capable of withstanding a wide range of hostile conditions, including space. The Shield is able to withstand a great deal of damage before breaking and exposing the user to fire. Heavier than most other suits of armor, the user must be augmented to be able to with stand the weight of it, along with the exo-skeleton is boasts.. Often modified and painted different colors, the Shield is highly customizable and it is rare to find two soldiers that look exactly alike. Soldiers often add their own pouches and webbing vests over the chest plate. The helmet it self boasts a complex HUD capable of supporting an Artificial Intelligence, and a direct link into augments of the wearer's brain, among several other programs. It is relatively new and was developed only 5 short years ago. However, it has replaced the Mark I as the standard issue armor.
Shield Mark III: Overall lighter and a less protective than the Mark II, the Mark III is designed for the use of Black Sun operatives. With a sleeker frame, this suit is much more agile and less restricting than its earlier version. However, this suit is also more exposed and less protective. The helmet consists of the same computing support as its previous version.
Ares Mark VIII: This suit is used by the RSI's infamous Praetorians. Weighing a ton, and having extremely heavy armor, this suit requires an exoskeleton and heavy augmentation in order to use. Compared to most power armor, this suit is surprisingly nimble when worn by the heavily modified Praetorian operative. The helmet boasts the same technology as the shield.
Weapons:
KP-31 Pistol: Standard issue sidearm for the Imperium's armed forces and dignitaries, this powerful pistol is guass powered and fires armor piercing rounds. Heavy for an average human, it seems comfortable in the hands of the heavily augmented Imperials.
KP-32A Machine Pistol: Standard issue for OMI agents, and some special forcers, this guass powered automatic side arm fires armor piercing rounds at high velocities giving it a big punch. The downside is its weight. It is heavier than standard pistols, however when used by an augmented agent the weapon feels fine.
ST-25 Sub-Machine Gun: Previously mass produced and widely distributed, the ST-25 was the previous standard issue weapon for most troops. Now replaced by vastly improved weapon systems, the ST-25 remains mostly untouched and left in reserve. Occasionally they will be used on cheap expendable battle droids as they are easy to replace, but you will never see them on any marine unit.
ST-45 Sub-Machine Gun: This smaller caliber guass powered weapon is often found in fighters, vehicles, or aboard command bridge's. With a 50 round magazine, this PDW is used by officers, pilots and vehicle crews.
SM-110 Weapon Platform: Often reserved for special forces and OMI agents, the SM-110 has three different variants. Firing smaller rounds than the XR-115 the SM-110 is more suited for close combat. The SM-110 is by far the most used variant and is usually fitted with a suppressor. The SM-110M is often utilized by OMI agents to take out targets in an urban setting, or to designated marksmen within the Army. This is due to the lack of mobility offered by the MB-13.
XR-115 Assault Rifle: The XR-115 is the standard issue rifle for all RSI infantry. The weapon platform is guass powered giving it a very long effective range. The XR-115 prides itself on adaptability, and has several rails that can fit a numerous list of attachments.
MB-13 High Velocity Rifle: A high-powered anti-material rifle, the MB-13 is standard issue among marines and OMI agents alike. The rifle uses guass technology giving it incredibly long effective ranges. Its rounds are capable of piercing the armor of most vehicles and power armors. The weapon is heavy at around 45 pounds fully loaded.
TT-23 Squad Automatic Weapon: Heavy, bulky, but with an extremely high fire rate, the TT-23 SAW sees regular use by the marines. Due to its heaviness and recoil the weapon is rarely fired from a standing position, and often must be deployed to be truly effective. The weapon uses guass technology giving it a bigger punch and longer range.
Aircraft:
SPEAR Gunship: This gunship, while capable of space flight, is used almost exclusively planet-side. Requiring only one pilot, the gunship uses an AI for most targeting and navigational purposes. The SPEAR is commonly utilized as an escort for dropships, or as air support to ground troops. The SPEAR is outfitted with one rotating 50mm autocanon, 8 anti-vehicle Air-Ground missiles, and 12 high explosive Air-Ground Missiles.
NOVA Dropship: The NOVA dropship can be deployed both in space and on the ground. Armed with a 30MM Autocanon, 26 Air-ground hellfire missiles, and 4 Air-Ground anti-vehicle missiles, the NOVA would be able to hold its own if it weren't so slow. Capable of transporting 24 Marines comfortably. It is also able to carry ground vehicles and deploy them rapidly.
SWORD Interceptor: The SWORD Interceptor is used to destroy enemy bombers alongside escorting Imperium bombers to their targets. While the SWORD Interceptor is lightly armored, it is extremely fast. The SWORD is armed with 8 Guided Air-Air Missiles intended for other fighters, 4 guided Air-Air missiles intended for larger craft and four 50mm autocannons. It is capable of both space flight, and atmospheric flight. It is an unmanned fighter.
SPARTAN Bomber: Boasting an incredible amount of missiles and weapons, the SPARTAN bomber serves both in space and planetside. This ship is equipped to deal with anything from cruisers, to encampments. Two large nuclear tipped warheads, and four large torpedoes are used to disable or destroy larger ships, such as frigates, destroyers or cruisers. The smaller missiles are used to destroy personnel, vehicles, or buildings. 3 Small 8.8mm turrets are used to fend off enemy fighter-craft, and the 2 50MM autocannons are used for strafing run and bigger craft.
RAVEN Stealth Dropship: Not much is known about the Raven, other than it is used by the RSI's special forces and has the most high tech stealth equipment available equipped on it.
Ground Vehicles:
PANTHER Transport: The standard ground transport used by the Imperium, the panther is highly adaptable. Capable of being outfitted with anything from miniguns to AA weapons, the PANTHER is widely used by both the army and the marine force.
BEAR Armored Personnel Carrier: This armored vehicle can hold up to 10 soldiers comfortably and be outfitted with a wide variety of weapons.
EARTHQUAKE Mobile Artillery Platform: The Imperiums primary artillery platform, the Earthquake can be outfitted with heavy MAC weapons, explosive rounds, and even Anti-Aircraft.
TROJAN Transporter: The Trojan is often deployed during ground invasions. Capable of carrying 50 troops or droids, this ground vehicle is extremely large. The vehicle can also serve a number of other purposes, including a base of operations, a mobile triage center, a communications outpost, and even an artillery piece.
RHINO Heavy Tank: Used extensively by the Imperium, the Rhino is an extremely hard hitting piece of machinery. Armed with a 180MM smoothebore gun, and an 8.8MM minigun on top, this is the Imperiums only tank. Doubling as a troop transport, this vehicle can also hold a squad of 6 Marines.
WOLVERINE Anti-Tank Mechanized Unit: The Wolverine is deployed by the RSI as primarily a tank hunter. Highly mobile and unmanned, this mech is commonly seen deployed to support standard marine units. The Wolverine is armed primarily with a single Magnetic Acceleration Canon to target armored vehicles. The Mech is also armed with dual 8.8MM miniguns to target personnel and lightly armed vehicles.
TIGER Light Walker: Used mainly for recon and anti-vehicle purposes, the Tiger is a rare sight on the battlefield. Quick, but lightly armored, the Tiger is usually only used when needed. In packs they can be used to destroy heavier vehicles, however it is rarely advised. Tigers can be armed with anything from a minigun, to a Magnetic Acceleration Canon.

Background: Recruited into the Red Sun Marine force at the age of 12, Ordo was always at the top of his class. Extremely talented at almost every exercise, William Ordo volunteered and was eagerly accepted into the ranks of the 8th Recon Battalion. Serving 4 years, and seeing a great deal of combat without being injured, William Ordo was selected to be placed into OMI. Going through 4 more years of extensive training, William Ordo graduated at the top of his class and became a PHANTOM agent. Considered the best assassin the RDI has to offer, Ordo's skills in combat for surpass the average special forces soldier. Ordo is a trained tool of the Imperium, a deadly agent designed to be the knife of the Imperium. Ordo is extremely good at what he does, and continues to do.
