Macro/Mega scale engineering: This form of engineering has become necessity for the network, the network deemed the use of giant sized structures for manufacturing purposes and Space elevators for the surfaces of worlds conquered for resources and maintenance.

Artificial Intelligence: seeing that they are a race of robots they require an intelligence to operate the hardware or the robots themselves and thus they have a large connected network of A.I, thus earning them the name "The network.".

Active Tracking Systems: The Network has a very rigorous tracking system that is able to identify the various platforms operating under it, every ship, every droid, every installation has a identification tag. It is extremely simple for the network to detect hostile or unknown elements in their systems.

Quick-Manufacturing Centers: As expecting the Network Utilizes an extremely efficient building system to manufacture more units.

Resource Management Technologies: As an A.I the network fathomed that it would need the most efficient method of resource mass production. When refining resource the foundries leave little to waste, after battles they salvage whatever technology they can from their fallen units and even salvage the fallen enemies vehicles into raw materials such as Metals and Energy, not matter how primitive, it all has use.

Species:

Sentient and non sentient machines. Entirely made of a variety of metals. Their wide bodies and seemingly lithe arms can pull and handle an astounding amount of weight which points to the automaton's creators design for manual labor. Each “Unit” is supported by thick legs, the legs are twice the width of the arms and are supported by gyro-servos on each limb connection, augmented with micro-pistons. However the aforementioned are larger on labor and engineering units, and in some cases on re-fitted labor units that act as shock troops. Their small arms are thin, only a simple mechanism in most cases, the arm design has thin plate metal running down the length of the arm, behind the plating is a similar mechanism to the legs minus the micro-pistons.

<:: "The Standard and Most commonly seen of the networks Units. These Classes are considered Sentient." - Explorers Log, Unknown Date

The body and head of a unit are leagues apart from their supporting armatures and sport a number of basic, yet efficient pieces of technology. Their protruding and wide body chassis houses a small generator that produces electricity, and this magnetic based energy travels to the servos and head unit of the unit through heavily bundled and reinforced cables that disperse out to meet the servo inputs and head. The generator itself is supported by thick plates of metal that touch the back and front of the internal structure of the chest, and the same goes for the topsides of the generator. Looking at a unit generator support is much like an eight-pointed star when viewed vertically. The plating of the body is very durable metal and reinforced from the inside but its purpose is mainly meant for easy maintenance with multiple available openings. Aside from the generator and the reinforcement for both the chest inside and out and the conduits from the legs and arms connecting with each other to go to the head, also the internal engines for the topmost servos are located inside. This makes the unit a very simple and efficient machine.

The generator lasts for up to 85 years for common “Flat Units” (Units that are continually broken down and rebuild, collaboration consciousness with other units and consistently mixing and mashing idea structure and ideology. A citizen class, and the robotic answer to the nessisesity of a consumer market, a society of choice and to show similarities with other races for increased chance of diplomatic success.) 94 for Labor Units and 220 for Envoy Units (Envoy units are selected to outlast or even compare with the great ages many races possess due to that fact that it is a common trait to “deal with a familiar face”. Ship Admirals and Documentation Units are eternal due to their constant connection to an energy source, in the Admirals case, his ship (however he can remove himself for diplomatic purposes.) Documentation Management Units upload data on the Network home world by meshing themselves with the machine and becoming part of a greater data source, discarding their useless parts when “in-system” and requiring them through the system when outside of the system.. After the lifetime of a generator has passed, it shuts down and the resulting last surge of energy shorts out the motor functions of a Unit, and some of the Unit's memory, when a Unit "dies" its CPU is removed, the generator disposed of and the body stripped or melted down for new Units. Units don't fear death due to the knowledge that they can usually be put back together rather easily and their consciousness will transfer to another unit somewhere if they die. They also hold a heavy sense of pride that comes when they are recycled to make way for a new and more efficient generation of knowledge seekers. The CPU that is recovered has its contents copied and stored in the Central Core of the Network, deep in the outer core servers. The data recovered serves as a short biography displayed in the Unit's achievements and name. Units passing through the Networks hub are subject to digital download of the Networks coded information upon passing through the system, thus allowing the traits and knowledge advancements of other units to be downloaded and shared with the masses. As aforementioned each machine in the network serves purpose and no machine goes unused, Labor Droids, Combat Armatures, Drone Vehicles for all roles such as the Small Mining Vehicles to Battleship sized drones.

History

Many believe the network started out as a servant or slave race to a group of pre-era creatures. Judging by the large, un-traversable areas on 001 and the selective wiping from the memory banks; the higher echelons of the Network believed that it their collective serves better to look forward than backward. In this regard the Network have no care for the study into who they were in a past life. Recently, until now, the Network were a defunct amount of robots until an exploration party awoke them to return to servitude as the radio waves of the exploration ship interfered with the Network's sleep cycle. The last Network directives, and the earliest memories from some units was to prepare for an attack, which is part in parcel of why the Network has the military vessels it has to this day.

Culture:

Since alot of the network is recycled units it can be said they're a culture based around past experience, the downloaded intelligence of destroyed units, teaching them to adapt. But in Essence the network is Culture-less, a self serving intelligent machine.

The Network Ice_Planet_by_sanmonku
Homeworld Name: Planet 001
Homeworld Location: The home world system's location in the local grid.
Homeworld Description: Planet 001 is an ice giant, but a very unusual ice giant. The crust and mantle are both ice and permafrost respectfully with the outer core comprised of dense rock and metals, the inner core has a high density of magnetically concentrated metals giving Planet 001 a thick atmosphere which protects it from the already cold red dwarf sun. Due to this heavy, magnetically shielded atmosphere, violent freak storms change the landscape almost daily - blizzards and super-cores are among the few with lightning and dark, malignant overcasts complimenting the already inhospitable planet. The fact that the Units require pure lightning for energy, provides them with a natural, plentiful and powerful source.
From orbit, the planet is marked with large pockmarks and gargantuan fissures open up caverns that are supported by freezing waters which acts as a glue for opened cracks in the surface...

The Network 572b58fa196b

The planet has no open seas, rather the water sits under and on top, as glaciers and frozen deltas... Fissures continuously present some danger to the Units, though efficient engineering and building downwards to construct deep, titanic cone-like hubs that serve as the domains of each Node within the Network.
Political System: The Network is what you'd expect, multiple governing bodies that report to and are ruled by a larger entity. There are currently 5 Nodes and the Prime Node which monitors all processes that come from the Outer Node. One Node, code-named Forge is home to a majority of Labour units and a minority of Commoners and a singular Admiral with one DMU since categorizing their own architecture is nothing but the easiest task, however continuous since the Admirals adapt past builds and create new designs from them...

Forge handles the brunt of manual labour and construction and often other Nodes send requests and queries, transferred from the Outer Nodes then filtered by Prime Node, then to Forge. Each Node specializes in something, but has a wide diversity of Commoner and a handful of Labour Units to keep stagnation within that Node at bay, if there's too many Units who specialize in just one thing, there's issues that emerge when that same knowledge and experience cannot be duplicated to carry on to new Units to circulate and evolve. So by one of Prime Node's Directives (law(s)) each Node is to harbour additional diversity in its Unit hierarchy.

Military Specifications: The network are a malleable Intelligence Collective. They adapt their tactics as needed and thus their military replies upon specialized task forces, backed up by scouting and recon services.

Fleet Roster:
The Network has an extremely specified super-heavy fleet. Relying only on huge flagship class vessels, equipped with whole factory systems to fight a bitter war of attrition until total battlefield control has been obtained. The Network fleet is widely recognised as the heart of Network society.
00-Class Flagship Superheavy Ship Destroyer
01-Class Flagship Superheavy Ship Destroyer
02-Class Flagship Medium Ship Destroyer
03-Class Flagship Light Ship Destroyer
04-Class Flagship Super Carrier
00-Class Flagship Superheavy Ship Destroyer [Currently Dormant]
01-Class Flagship Superheavy Ship Destroyer [Currently Dormant]
02-Class Flagship Medium Ship Destroyer [Currently Dormant]
03-Class Flagship Light Ship Destroyer [Currently Dormant]
04-Class Flagship Super Carrier [Currently Dormant]

[Dormant Ships represent ships that are currently unusable, but were once part of the Networks fleet, it takes time and money to re-activate these ships.]

Hero Character:
Name: Unit 12
Race: Labor Unit
Age: 2131 days till reassembly
Position: \\Labour\The Forge\Work Line 3\Slot 57
Allegiance: The Network
Appearance: Standard Workmans Appearance, Model 3
Unit 12 contains a segmented CPU from various machines, including the first ever work bot. Nothing is remarkable about this bot that the Network cannot, one day, make better. There is a chance anomaly of 0.0001% that 12 could one day kill the rest of his factory in a perfect kill-switch code line up fault.

Quite a chunky read, but I dunno why you didn't just post earlier (on the forums that is), I posted before my app was fully finished. My finished app is much smaller than this! Welcome aboard!

Rook, you don't have that authority. When I add his race to the systems, then he can start. I will do so in a second.

I mean, my app isn't up to the standards of the revised process and my homeworld isn't on the map, but you don't get all up in my butt about it.

Oh Omni, I wouldn't want to interfere with a highly advanced app that you probably took months designing. I'm sure everything you do in your wise ways has a reason. Unless of course this is your cry for help and that you need to be added to the map board. Smile

Rook, this is your first and last warning to stop posting in this thread. You clearly have nothing constructive to add.

On the topic of the Network, Crackers, I would like some clarification on your technology tag 'Active Tracking Systems' in accordance with the newly posted technology guidelines. Are they tachyon transmitters?

Also, would it be alright if you clarified on the 'generator' part of the units? Is it a fusion reactor?
